Tina O’Connell is a visual arts storyteller based in North Clare. She works primarily in sculpture and performance. A mature student, she began her formal art education at Ennistymon Art School (FETAC Level 5 & 6) before completing a degree in Fine Art Sculpture and Combined Media at LSAD.
Her practice explores themes of motherhood, memory, and identity through storytelling, humour, and material experimentation. Combining wood, concrete, mixed media, and performance, Tina creates narrative-driven works that reflect the complexities of domestic life and familial relationships.
In 2026, she will present her first solo exhibition at Custom House Studios, awarded through a competitive open call. She has exhibited locally and nationally, receiving recognition for her Degree Show , including an award to exhibit at Limerick City Gallery of Art. Her work is now part of the LCGA permanent collection, with other pieces held in private collections.
In 2024, Tina was the recipient of the prestigious Global Travel Award, with curator Aoife Ruane describing her as “a genuine artistic explorer whose practice we want to see further nurtured and developed through this inspiring award.” That same year, she was also awarded the Áras Éanna and RHA Summer Residency on Inis Oírr.
Over the past four years, she has taken part in performance art workshops with leading artists including Amanda Coogan, Nigel Rolfe, Dominic Thorpe, and Bbeyond. Her evolving practice has been profiled in the (New Generation series) and in (MiniVAN, August 2024).
